New business includes category 4 cases, protocol cases directed to be heard in the High Court for trial, cases transferred to the High Court for trial under 70 of the Criminal Procedure Act and s86D of the Sentencing Act, cases where a retrial has been directed and split cases.
Disposals at completion of sentence, delivery of final judgment or earlier outcome
HC criminal trial
The sum of cases disposed, where disposal for a given case was counted at the completion of sentencing, or earlier outcome.
Disposals include cases disposed when sentencing or final outcomes are established on all jury trial charges, or when all active jury trial charges are joined into another case. Disposals are recorded in the categories of Not Proceeded with on Indictment, Discharged Section 147, Other Outcome, Found Not Guilty, Convicted and Discharged, Convicted and Sentenced and Joined.
