9 February 2026 Media statement: Chief Justice announces acting warrants

The Chief Justice is pleased to announce the appointment of an acting Supreme Court judge, and the extension of acting warrants of Court of Appeal and High Court judges. These appointments are made by the Governor-General acting on the advice of the Attorney-General.

• Justice Susan Glazebrook has been appointed as an Acting Judge of the Supreme Court, for a two-year period following her retirement on 8 February 2026.
• Justice David Collins has been appointed as an Acting Judge of the Court of Appeal for a further two-year period from 19 March 2026 until 18 March 2028.
• Justice Christine Gordon has been appointed as an Acting Judge of the High Court for a further one-year period from 1 January to 31 December 2026.
• Justice Robert Osborne has been appointed as an Acting Judge of the High Court for a further one-year period from 1 January to 31 December 2026.

These appointments are made to assist with the workload of the courts.
